Phil Olsen is currently studying for a Masters in Creative Writing at The University of Manchester’s Centre for New Writing. Phil will be guest blogging for Bluecoat throughout our Comma Press Short Story course.
The University of Liverpool are carrying out a survey into the Philosopher-in-Residence programme that was held at Bluecoat last year.
"Laughter is the shortest distance between two people" -- Comedian and writer Arthur Smith discusses the value of laughter as a connecting device, and the mystery behind why we laugh at all.
Hauntings is an afternoon of performances and discussion inspired by the work of Vernon Lee, a pseudonym of the British writer Violet Paget (1856 – 1935), devised by Sally Blackburn, doctoral researcher at University of Liverpool and Marie-Anne McQuay, Head of Programme, Bluecoat. The event also features Dr Sondeep Kandola (LJMU English) with contributions from artist/writers Maria Fusco and Nathan Jones.
We are delighted to announce that poet and artist Sean Borodale has been invited to be our first Artist-Writer in residence. Sean Borodale works as a poet and artist, making scriptive and documentary poems written on location. His residency is funded by Arts Council England, Trinity College Cambridge and supported by Slade School of Fine Art.
