Announcing New Print Studio Artist in Residence Samantha Donnelly

Samantha Donnelly will begin her residency in the Print Studio on Thursday 20th Nov. She is currently based in South Manchester.

Samantha Donnelly graduated from Newcastle University with an MFA in 2005. Recent solo exhibitions include 'Rubbernecker' at Ceri Hand Gallery, London (2014), 'Reception'
at Standpoint Gallery, London (2012) and 'Contour States' at Cornerhouse, Manchester (2012). Recent group exhibitions include 'Exeter Contemporary Open' at Exeter Phoenix, Devon (2014), 'Tip of the Iceberg', The Contemporary Art Society, London (2013) and 'Have You Seen Dante?' at Vitrine Gallery, London, (2012).

Donnelly is interested in playing with the processes of mass production and will be exploring screen print, a medium not previously employed in her current work. As an artist who predominately makes sculpture we're excited about the new direction her work will take during the residency.

The artist says of her own work: "My work is concerned with representations: I am interested in how the media and images of the self, influence the narrative we become, particularly in response to the democratisation & repetition of imagery that creeps into our everyday life. I am interested with how we edit and re-edit ourselves"
