Family Friendly Fun at the Bluecoat this Spring

Spring is in the air at the Bluecoat and we have plenty on offer for families to enjoy. Visit our exhibition, play in the garden, follow our gallery trail and join in our family-friendly activities!

Saturdays, 1-4pm
Offering free, fun, creative activities for all the family every Saturday.  Drawing, painting, cutting out, sticking, planting, making, animation, photography... it’s all going on at the Bluecoat during Explore sessions. Most of the activities are linked to artwork in the gallery so you can enjoy looking at the exhibition and then make some art of your own.

Drop in at any time between 1 and 4pm and our Explore leaders will help you join in with our activities. Activities change on a regular basis so you can keep coming and always expect something different.

Play the Explore game!

Out of the Blue
Visit our current exhibition The Negligent Eye, and follow the gallery trail made by Out of the Blue - a project with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Liverpool City Council, running arts clubs for children across the city centre. The clubs will support children and families to develop positive attitudes towards people with learning disabilities. This will be achieved through collaborative working with the Blue Room, our learning disbabled artists, on a high quality programme of arts activities linked to our exhibitions.

Eat and Drink
Ask for an activity sheet and some crayons from staff at the Upstairs bistro or Espresso and enjoy a bite to eat from our children's menu
The Upstairs bistro also boasts a brand new play area with plenty of storybooks and games to keep your little ones happy!

The Bluecoat has ground floor baby-changing facilities and we are a registered Breastfeeding Welcome venue.

An opportunity, through creative and reflective activities, to explore the meaning of art and its value for our lives. Ages 8-12; children must be accompanied by an adult.
