A summer of DJs in the garden at Bluecoat

Liverpool promoters Beaten Tracks and Mellowtone will curate a programme of DJs in Bluecoat’s garden this summer.

The evenings will feature a range of the finest local purveyors of styles and sounds from across the globe.

Beaten Tracks and Mellowtone have a wealth of experience providing sounds for a range of events.  Their work includes booking bands and DJs with Mellowtone, curating the DJ stage at the Africa Oye festival, investigating and unearthing Liverpool’s little-known musical histories via the Next Stop New York and AfroFutures projects, as well as a host of one-off support shows.  The companies are also involved in some of the city’s high-profile festivals such as Sound City, Liverpool International Music Festival and Liverpool Music Week.

Mellowtone founder Dave McTague said: “We are delighted to be working with the Bluecoat again this year, building on our longstanding relationship with the venue and the Above The Beaten Track Festival. The courtyard is a hidden oasis in Liverpool’s bustling city centre, and the perfect place to provide a complimentary soundtrack to the gallery’s exhibitions and Summer events programme.”

Taking place in Bluecoat’s beautiful garden, the Friday events have been especially themed around existing summer activity and festivals.

Carefully curated DJs and selectors will provide an eclectic range of musical delights, exposing the crowd to sounds they may well have never heard. As well as Mellowtone and Beaten Tracks DJs, the lineup will feature some of the cities most eclectic selectors. Expect styles from across the globe – including jazz, African, Latin, Arabic sounds and Sub-Saharan beats, Reggae, country, r’n’b, psyche, funk, soul and blues.
