Bluecoat Shortlisted for New Gallery Lighting from M&S Energy Fund

We are excited to announce that Bluecoat has been shortlisted to receive funding from the Marks and Spencer Community Energy Fund - and with our visitors support and votes there is the possibility we could receive up to £35,000.

Marks and Spencer have been at the forefront of corporate efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, each year, give away £350,000 to help charities and community organisations do the same.

Art Galleries and Museums as a sector have one of the highest carbon footprints, and as the only gallery in Liverpool entering the M&S Community Energy Fund, Bluecoat hopes to lead the way in reducing the industry's impact on the environment.

Our project will replace our worn out gallery lighting with super-efficient new LED lighting. This new lighting system will not only help our art look much more impressive but also save thousands of pounds (that we can spend on fantastic exhibitions) and tons of carbon dioxide. We hope that this project will help safeguard places such as Bluecoat for future generations to enjoy.

The galleries are the heart of Bluecoat and the building will welcome around 700,000 visitors this year over 363 days. That means the lights need to be on a lot, and as a result, more energy efficient bulbs are a brilliant investment.

There are several ways you can help our project:

Vote for FREE here.

You can also donate whilst you vote, every donation makes a difference, and will go towards improving our lighting.

Please remember to share our project on social media when you vote, as every vote counts.
