Weekly Blog 1: Serena Korda, TWINS + Jigsaw Family Activity

While we're all spending more time at home over the next few weeks, we wanted to do what we can to help. We've put together a few links to things that you might find informative or inspiring during this time.

We've started with some highlights from our heritage, arts and learning programmes.

We'd love to know what you think - please do message us on social media, or email us at with your thoughts. Tell us what you'd like to see more or less of over the coming weeks, and we'll do our best to bring that to you.

Serena Korda: The Bell Tree

Take a moment to yourself and be transported to a magical environment with this soundscape audio from Serena Korda's The Bell Tree commissioned by the National Trust's Trust New Art programme in partnership with Bluecoat.

Originally recorded to accompany a temporary public sculptural artwork at Speke Hall in 2018, the piece is inspired by the folklore of bluebells which are found throughout Speke Hall's grounds. Bell ringers, a choir and a cappella group combine to create this evocative work.

TWINS: how do I know I am me..

Take a look back at Cologne artists Angie Hiesl Roland Kaiser’s mesmerising performance installation, commissioned by Bluecoat and performed at the A Foundation (now Camp & Furnace) in 2009. The performance involved five pairs of identical twins, two of them recruited from Liverpool.

Visit our My Bluecoat website and watch the full length performance.

Hear from Angie Hiesl in this behind the scenes documentary exploring the making of the work.
