'Postcode' exhibition preview today 5pm.

You are invited to a preview of ‘Postcode’ at The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool, L1 3BX on Thursday 10 January at 5pm.

In August 2011, riots spread across the country after the shooting of Mark Duggan in Tottenham.   A report published after the riots highlighted the use of stop and search laws and the treatment of young people by the police as being a “motivation factor” for the disturbances. Postcode is a collaborative project by Urban Revolt Media in Liverpool and Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation in New York – the home of ‘zero tolerance’ and community policing.   The projects aim is to give a voice to young people living in areas where stop and search laws and anti-social behaviour legislation effect how they and their local communities are perceived by the wider public.

Young people from Norris Green, Toxteth, Everton, Kirkdale, Huyton, Kirkby and East New York have used photography, film and collage to tell their story.
