Heart Beats Rhyme’n’Roll Poetry Night presents an energetic evening of poetry and music, hosted by Heart Beats’ own performance poet, Lisa Jones.
Bradford born Kate Fox is a satirist, poet and stand up performer, who wowed BBC Two’s Daily Politics show in 2007 with her poem about the Prime Minister, ‘Un-flash Gordon’. She cites melodies, memories, sex, death and taxis as being among her influences.
Stand up poetry is like stand up comedy’s cleverer, more passionate younger brother with more to say and better shoes – Kate Fox
Caroline Bird has performed at Latitude Festival and her collection, Trouble Came to the Turnip, shows her savagely humorous and self-mocking work at its best.
Caroline Bird has given the language of poetry a real shot in the arm – Stride Magazine
With influences as diverse as John Keats and Mos Def, Inua Ellams mesmerises audiences with his slow-burning performances.
With his transnational background, Ellams’ is a bustling, inclusive vision of the world – Culture Wars
Plus, sun-drenched melodies and Breeders-style rock'n'roll from Emily and the Faves.
