Heritage Trail at the Bluecoat.

The Bluecoat is the oldest building in the city centre. It has a fascinating 20th century heritage as the oldest arts complex of its kind in the UK as well as its 18th and 19th century role as a charity school.

Three artists collectively known as TEA will work with local experts and people with memories to share. Local school children will be researching the building’s history as a school. The finished Trail will provide reference points around the building, for visitors who wish to learn more about its heritage, past events and people.

In addition to the trail we will be offering heritage-based activity sessions for Key Stages 2 and 3 linked to the history, art and citizenship curricula.
