Death Jazz’s greatest exponents, Acoustic Ladyland play with an overwhelming strength of conviction. Based upon a mutual distaste for jazz sterility and respect for Jimi Hendrix (hence the name), Acoustic Ladyland have been rattling minds and messing with conventions since 2001 when Pete Wareham’s gattling gun sax-refrains first soared over Seb Rochford (of Mercury-nominated Polar Bear)’s pounding drums. With Tom Herbert on bass and Tom Cawley on keys, Acoustic Ladyland are carving out a niche that, in Wareham’s own words, is as “musically substantial as Coltrane, but as much fun as ‘Waiting For The Man’ by The Velvet Underground”. Support comes from Dunkirk’s Yolk and Liverpool favourites, a.P.A.t.T. (prior to the re-opening of the Bluecoat, a.P.A.t.T kindly helped us put the new Performance Space through its paces). Yolk and a.P.A.t.T are both awesome 6 pieces with a mind-blowing approach to genre-hopping and well earned reputations for devastating live appearances! "Deliciously delirious… fierce and serene, fluent and fractured… [Acoustic Ladyland] are pretty damned exciting"Paul Morley, 5/5 OMM "One of London's most consistently jaw-dropping live acts… on blistering, beautiful form"Evening Standard www.myspace.com/acousticladylandmusicwww.myspace.com/yolk2006www.myspace.com/apatt
