Fittings Multimedia Arts
Fittings Multimedia Arts is a disability led performance company that makes works that address serious issues in the language of variety theatre.
We make our work with artists and performers from various backgrounds and life experiences. We make our work in a variety of settings: theatres, castles, tents and toilets; touring regionally, nationally and internationally to attract the widest possible audience. We make our work to entertain and to express what it is to be human.
Fittings Multimedia Arts current core staff are: Artistic Director, Actor and Writer Garry Robson, and Administrative Director, Deborah Wintle. Administrator, Liz Fox and Marketing and PR Officer, Adrian Turrell-Watts complete the office team on a part-time basis.
The company also employs Associate Artists from other disciplines on a long term or project by project basis. Our most recent Associate was visual artist Felicity Shillingford who alongside Garry was the original founder of the company.
Historically it has been from this fusion of a non disabled visual artist and a disabled theatre maker that we have pursued our aim to challenge preconceptions by making mixes of artists, art forms and cultures that question stereotypes and break down boundaries.
We develop and create multi-sensory mixed media artworks (having a core live performance aspect) using integrated companies. We do this by developing unusual partnerships in a way that exposes individuals and organisations working with us to different creative experiences, different ways of working and to diverse and different cultures.
We create work in different contexts, developing both new audiences and new ways of viewing work. We create work in different forms to suit the creative ideas of each project, which include: performances, installations, exhibitions, films, workshops and seminar/lecture/training formats.
