Neil Keating
Neil has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2004. He studied at Liverpool John Moores University, where he gained a BA(Hons)in Graphic design and illustration and currently working in his studio at the Bluecoat. His current research focuses on a variety of commercial works including public and private installations, portraiture, comic books, editorial illustration and children's books. His influences stem from stories he was told as a child, such as the story of Peter and Wolf, fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and the Moomin's by Tove Jansson. Reading the Dandy and Beano comics as a young boy to Judge Dredd 2000 AD in his teens he was influenced by cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Tin Tin, Scooby Doo, and Bugs Bunny. His recent influences include illustrators ranging from Chris Ware and his superb range of Acme novels, the legendary eccentric Robert Crumb to the dark subtle illustrations of Edward Gorey and the magical world of Tove Jansson.
