Out of the Blue Facilitator
£20,000 pro rata: 27 hours per week (over five days)
The Bluecoat is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to take on an important role in the development of a new participation programme made possible with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
The Out of the Blue programme will establish five art clubs in different areas of the city for children aged 6 – 11 years. The clubs will be closely linked to our Blue Room project for adults with learning disabilities and some of our Blue Room members will volunteer to support the activities. A related audience development programme for families will encourage independence access to arts and culture.
The Facilitator will be responsible for the coordination of the programme and will take a lead on devising and delivering sessions with support from two Creative Apprentices and in collaboration with Blue Room members. Session content will focus on visual arts activities related to the Bluecoat’s ongoing programme. The clubs will meet regularly after school in community settings and in some school holidays at the Bluecoat. Family afternoons will also be programmed across the year to engage the wider community from each of the five areas.
Candidates must have at least 2 years’ experience of organising, devising and delivering participatory arts activities, including some experience in community settings involving people who might be considered “hard to engage”. To be considered for this post you must have experience of working directly with adults with learning disabilities and with primary aged children in an arts context.
This role is offered on a fixed term contract until 31st December 2016.
