Why do we need your support?
Building & Conservation
Bluecoat is the oldest building in Liverpool city centre. The building is highlighted specifically in the UNESCO world heritage site award. It is also Liverpool's greatest 21st century building having won more architectural awards than any other building.
Help us to open and operate the building, maintain, renovate and conserve the fabric of the building and make improvements.
Arts
Bluecoat was first inhabited by artists in 1906. They quickly established it as a multiple art form venue. Not only was this the first model of its type but Bluecoat has remained in the forefront of the arts through its 100-year history as the model has developed over that time.
No other art centre has the breadth of activities Bluecoat does. As well as artists based at the building we have a diverse community of creative industries including creative retailers. Bluecoat arranges contemporary visual art exhibitions, dance, literature, music and live art in the galleries, performance space as well as in the garden courtyard and other public spaces.
Please help Bluecoat to be able to continue to support and present a high quality pioneering and innovative programme of art.
Education
The participation programme focuses on three strands, all of which aim to bring together artists and people in creative exchange or to engage people directly with aspects of the arts programme through facilitated participation.
Bluecoat needs support to widen participation and engage new people in creativity and the arts and to enable us to continue providing year-round opportunities for everyone in particular families and young people to engage with free, accessible creative activities in the building as well as to allow Bluecoat to develop its award-winning in-house and targeted neighbourhood participation projects (for example, Blue Room, working with adults with learning disabilities).
