Primary Schools
Primary school sessions at the Bluecoat usually focus on either the gallery or the heritage of this fascinating building. Gallery sessions include a guided tour of our current exhibition followed by use of one of our spaces for teacher-led activities. A choice of resources are available and materials will be provided. Resources are themed around listening, exploring vocabulary, colours, numeracy and different ways of thinking. They will help you use the galleries and the building itself as a resource for curriculum-related activities.

Heritage sessions involve a trail around the building with special worksheets. This is usually followed by a session using our giant chest full of puppets, props and costumes. These can be used by the class to bring alive a specially written poem about the Bluecoat. This can then be used as a stimulus for creative writing or artwork.
One of our team will work with you in advance to plan your visit and select from our set of resources. You can add a 2 hour session with an artist from our experienced team for an additional £100. The resources are adaptable for use with different key stages.
To discuss a primary session please contact Laura Pilgrim; laura.pilgrim@thebluecoat.org.uk 0151 702 7761.
