On Tuesday 11 December at Leaf, Static Gallery,we held a very successful auction event featuring a total of 48 lots, 46 art lots and 2 ‘experiences’. It was a great night.
All the artworks were sold for prices above their reserve and were the subject of considerable fervour amongst bidders.
In addition, the audience were entertained by the superb auctioneering skills of local actor and presenter Simon O’Brien and the soulful voices of Sense of Sound, the highly acclaimed a capella choir and female vocal agency who will be amongst the first tenants to move in to the Bluecoat early next year.
Thanks to the high quality of the art works and the enthusiasm of those who came to bid, we raised a total of just under £8,000 which will help towards the fitting out of public areas at the Bluecoat.
The lots that went for the highest price were a piece from John Monks, an internationally recognised painter who exhibited at the Bluecoat in 1977 and 1989, which sold for £680 and an fabulous 5 course dinner for ten at the Bluecoat when it re-opens, menu designed by Executive Chef Sean Davies complemented by wines personally selected by sommelier Hamish Anderson - a bargain at £850.
The auction for the Bluecoat demonstrates the high regard that the Bluecoat occupies in the hearts and minds of people in Liverpool - as a place for artists.
