Join us on Friday 11 July (7.30pm until late) to celebrate the launch of LIVERPOOL ARABIC ARTS FESTIVAL 2008.

Curatorial collective Ziyarat will Arabise the Bluecoat with an evening of free events. Encounter breathtaking contemporary dance from Ijad Dance Company, intimate storytelling by The Tabbouleh Performer and the unique sound of Arabic Hip & Oud (lute) beats from Rayess Bek and Yan Pittard. Hang out in the Hassan Hajajj styled lounge & Arabic themed café and be sufficiently arabised by 1970's Egyptian TV Star Saniyah.

You will also be able to view the new exhibition in the galleries, NEW ENDS, OLD BEGINNINGS, (pictured) until 10.00pm.

 

Friday 11 July Arabise Me programme of events

7.30pm onwards in the courtyard:

Saniya Superstar - Ageing TV Star of the 70s Saniya Superstar quizzes and interviews the audience, making sure everyone is sufficiently Arabised.

 

8.00 - 8.35pm and 9.30 - 10.05pm in the Performance Space:

Ijad Dance Company 'Wanna Play?' A breathtaking dance performance exploring personal journeys in an alluring and fast paced urnan environment.

 

9.00 - 9.30pm in the Sandon Room:

Rola Tabbouleh 'The Tabbouleh Performer'. Intimate storytelling, shared tales and shared food.

 

10.00pm - Midnight in the garden:

El Masri, Rayess Bek, Yan Pitard and DJ Bachir. Soundscapes, electro-acoustic performances and DJ sets from the region's most highly respected experimental heavyweights.
