Next Up exhibition extended
We are pleased to announce that we have been able to extend the finish date of Next Up: Liverpool Art Now. Originally due to end on Sunday 15 February, the exhibition will now run until Sunday 22 February.
If you haven't yet had chance to pop down and see the diverse work of 39 vibrant Liverpool-based artists, then the extra week (over half-term) will hopefully provide you with the pefect opportunity. Paul Rooney, one of the featured artists, has recently won the Northern Art Prize.
Sara Jayne Parsons, Exhibitions Curator at the Bluecoat says ‘The exhibition and the associated series of discussion events Art in a City Examined have contributed a huge amount to the Bluecoat over the last six weeks. The Bluecoat’s aim is to be a creative hub for Liverpool so it’s been wonderful to see many of the artists in the show using the whole building as a space to meet and exchange ideas. We worked out that it was logistically possible to extend the show and thought ‘why not?’‘It seems to have captured the imagination of visitors and artists alike. This is probably due to the timeliness of presenting an optimistic show, which demonstrates the wealth and diversity of talent in the city at a time when many people are wondering what’s next for Liverpool.’More about Next Up: Liverpool Art NowFrom Saturday 14 February - Thursday 19 February, you can also visit our Blue Room Exhibition, which showcases some fantastic work by a group of over 30 adults with learning disabilities who have been creating their own artworks in response to the exhibition programme.
