The Bluecoat is an exciting place to be at the moment. The building and the organisation are going through a period of huge change and, as we gear up to the big re-opening in early 2008, significant developments are taking place on a daily basis.

We are now thrilled to unveil our new look, one which captures the spirit and character of the Bluecoat, which will be a major landmark on the UK map of contemporary culture.

On re-opening, the Bluecoat will engage, inspire and stimulate visitors, whether they come to create, view, listen, eat, shop, talk - or simply be, and will house a vibrant community of creative people - artists, performers, writers, crafts people, creative businesses and retailers - all committed to using their emerging talent to innovate and excel.

Together they will break down traditional barriers between creator and consumer, involving and exciting visitors. This radical new approach is evident in our new website, launched 16th July 2007.

Alastair Upton, Chief Executive of the Bluecoat describes it as a site ‘designed to give people a similar experience online as they get when visiting the Bluecoat itself, allowing them to go on their own journey and to experience art in as many different ways as possible.

We want to give audiences lots of ways to interact with us and to tell us how they want the Bluecoat and the website to grow and change as they do.’
