Live Art

The Bluecoat’s live art programme is the only one of its kind in Liverpool and among the strongest in the UK. With the Capital of Culture celebrations and our re-opening, we’ve pulled out all the stops and our Live Art programme is nothing short of exceptional and we’ll be announcing programme information in the Autumn.

The annual Liverpool Live festival comes back inside the building and will boast some major international commissions The new Performance Space will also play host to some must-see Live Art nights, taking full advantage of its adaptability. You won’t find a programme as exciting as this anywhere else!

Music

Taking full advantage of the new Performance Space’s unique flexibility, we’ll be presenting a very broad range of music nights at the Bluecoat in 08, to be announced this Autumn.

We’ll be bringing in the tables and rolling out the Persian rugs for eclectic cabarets of folk, jazz and World Music; showing off our state-of-the-art equipment for the latest in innovative electronic music and contemporary classical; then stripping everything back for nights of sonic art wizardry and standing gigs featuring some of the most exciting up and coming bands. There’s truly something for everyone and a great programme for trying something new.

Dance

With the building open again, the Bluecoat will be welcoming back the LEAP festival which will be the centre piece for the year’s programme. As you might expect, the Bluecoat takes a very liberal definition of the genre! Our programme will present thrilling contemporary dance that flirts with experimental theatre, new music and Live Art to bring you some of the most exciting nights out that Liverpool has to offer.
