Charter
Introduction to the Bluecoat Tenant Charter
Tenants have played an important role at the Bluecoat for almost a century, and when the building re-opens in early 2008 a community of tenants will once again be present, playing an active part in the life of the building. The Bluecoat will support 6 retail units and 26 creative industries spaces, suitable for a range of tenants, including artists working across the spectrum of arts practice, arts organisations and creative businesses.
Each tenant will contribute to the Bluecoat’s vision for the building, to provide an innovative contemporary arts experience that encourages and supports the development of creative talent. Immersed in an inspiring environment, our tenants will work with us and each other to grow and prosper, sharing ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and playing an integral part in the experiences offered to visitors.
The Bluecoat will become a vibrant hub in the heart of the city, a place where we can all be inspired. Our tenants are central to this. To enable the Bluecoat to achieve this our tenants will need to commit to the vision outlined in our Tenant Charter. This is not a legally binding agreement but it does set out our commitment to you and the expectations we have of our tenants to be an active part of the Bluecoat. Your ability to grow your business or develop your creative practice at the Bluecoat needs your active engagement and your commitment to the spirit of the Tenant Charter.
We acknowledge that different tenants will be able to contribute to the Bluecoat experience in a variety of different ways, whether you are an individual artist, a creative business, an arts organisation or a retailer. Underpinning the Tenant Charter is an expectation that our tenants will be able to engage with us in projects and activities that are relevant to their particular skills and experience. We will regularly review the Tenant Charter to give tenants the opportunity to tell us how well this is working and to ensure that the expectations of all those involved are being met.
