Bluecoat is 300 years old! Help us celebrate our building’s history as an inspirational space for Liverpool’s children, with our summer of exciting family activities.

Abacus Exhibition and Related Events

Fri 21 Jul – Sun 1 Oct Mon - Sat 10am - 6pm, Sundays 11 - 6pm
Abacus
A free interactive art exhibition created especially for children. The show includes a mini art cinema and a gallery of chalkboards where your family can create their own masterpieces!Free

Sat 19 & Sun 20 Aug 1 - 4pm
Family Weekend: Abacus Extravaganza
Join us for an extravaganza of family fun including visual art, movement and a BBQ in our garden.
Storytelling sessions take place on Sun 20 Aug at 2pm and 3pm for 4 - 7 year olds. Free


Sat 22 Jul – Sat 2 Sep

Weekly Carousel
Jump on board our weekly carousel of children’s activities for different ages and interests.

Tuesdays 10.30 – 11.30am
Toddlertastic
Get active in this session combining movement and mark making.
Suitable for ages 1 - 4. 

Wednesdays 11am – 12pm
Storytime Puppets
Make your own puppet to bring alive our book of the week, which will also be read aloud.
Suitable for ages 4 - 7. 

Thursdays 2 – 3pm
Pick ‘n’ Mix
Try stand-up comedy, learn some French, draw with robots... there’s something different every week!
Suitable for ages 6 - 9.

Saturdays 1 – 4pm
Explore
Join us for our regular family art activities, based in the galleries for the summer!
Suitable for ages 4+


All sessions are ‘pay what you feel’ by donation on the day. Please book in advance for weekday sessions and storytelling on Sun 20 Aug to avoid disappointment, either online, by phone or in person at our Tickets and Information desk.

All children must be accompanied by an adult (excluding Abacus Summer School).
