Carolyn Hird-Rogers

BA Hons Ceramic Design – Cardiff Art College.  Carolyn has been influenced and attracted to line and structure for as long as she can remember and its purity and expressive quality when drawn through clay (her first love), using pencil and now working in print. Carolyn is inspired by the structural elements of plant forms, particularly those found in the Yorkshire Dales. She photographs at macro level, then works with them using Adobe Photoshop as her creative tool.  These strong linear forms influence the final images - original single edition prints combining graphic qualities with fossil-like imprints creating images which are traces, evolving and emerging from the contrasting texture of unique hand-made papers. She also produces limited edition prints and cards using her love of line, colour and texture, in a way which is both striking and accessible to the viewer.
