Liverpool Improvisation Collective
Andrea Buckley, Paula Hampson and Mary Prestidge are dance artists with a collective experience spanning five decades. For over fifteen years they have been centred in Liverpool. Even so, their national and international work as performers, project leaders and teachers has led them to devise projects, courses, conferences and festivals. This has supported and developed their work as well as contributing to a regional infrastructure and community of dancers.
Their practice looks at the essential use of space and about the process of creative practice for dance makers and performers. The individual members have differing approaches to these processes, but they share a common language and history which relates to western contemporary dance by its development, status and infrastructure.
Liverpool Improvisation Collective runs open studios, dance video events, discussion groups and performances, creating opportunities to promote their work and to publish visual, video and written artefacts. This is an artist led, designated space for practitioners to meet, exchange and share ideas and practices thus creating a forum for dialogue and debate.
