Louise O'Hara

MA Fashion and Textiles.  Louise is influenced by tactile aged surfaces like peeling paint on walls and fabrics which are threadbare but laden with memories and stories to tell.  Within her work she use a combination of mixed media and techniques to create layered surfaces incorporating: paper clay, wax and hand painted papers, collaged hand painted and hand dyed fabrics, machine and hand stitching.  Louise uses collage and stitch not only to hold layers together but also as a tool for drawing, often drawing into the work with a soldering iron.  She also incorporates vintage and discarded items into the work to convey messages of nostalgia. Louise’s four favourite words are: trace, absence, imperfection and serendipity.
