The Courtyard

The Courtyard is our front entrance and gateway to our retail units. It is also a performance space in and an extra space where you can sit with a cup of coffee and watch the world go by.
Performance Space

Our purpose built performance space can hold up to 116 people and has hosted everything from sound art to comedy.
The Hub / Espresso

This space provides access to the galleries, the performance space, Upstairs bistro, artist studios and the Bluecoat administration.
The Garden

The design for our new gardens was created by a team of experts including, Brenda Evans, the Bluecoat’s volunteer gardener for the past 30 years.
The Sandon Room

This newly refurbished space offers excellent opportunities for both private and corporate events.
Garden Room

Located off the garden on the ground floor, the Garden Room is perfect for both private and corporate events.
Gallery 2

The Bluecoat’s largest exhibition space Gallery 2 is a versatile rectangular space featuring a series of double doors leading onto the Cloister, a bright, airy space that looks onto the Bluecoat garden.
Gallery 3

Featuring a series of large, striking windows, Gallery 3 faces onto College Lane, a busy thoroughfare that leads into Liverpool 1, the heart of the city’s shopping area.
Gallery 4

Gallery 4 on the first floor is nicknamed “the chapel” because of the elegant scale and height of the space, where the ceiling reaches to a skylight at a height of almost 7m.
The Vide

This space has housed everything from sonic art to community art exhibitions and is situated at the entry point to galleries 1, 2 and 3.
Makin Room

The Makin Room is well equipped as a space for the visual arts including film, digital photography, animation and basic screen printing.
