The Second Shine competition looks at Creative Writing. Chapter & Verse is the Bluecoat’s annual literature festival and showcase both local and international talent. The festival takes place in October and we’d like you to start thinking about your creative writing skills now so that you can be a part of it.
Where to start
Joe Standerline, writer and actor, will be visiting schools to run workshops introducing ideas around characterisation and narrative. Using the text you are currently studying Joe will be helping you develop a new character that will radically change the plot. Even if you don’t get to meet Joe you could still enter your work into the competition, as long as you’re from one of the
schools in the FYT area. All you need to do is look at the hints and tips then ask your English teacher for an entry form to attach to your writing.
Master-class
The master-class will take place during the Chapter & Verse Festival. Joe will be there to work with you all weekend to develop your creative writing skills to the next level.
Exhibition
Work created by the master-class winners will be exhibited at the Bluecoat as well as on the website. We will also be showing all of the entries received and there.
