Patricia Duncker: The Strange Case of the Composer and his Judge

  • Sat, 15 Oct 2011
  • 6.00 PM - 7.15 PM
  • Tickets: £3/£2

Reading from her acclaimed novel The Strange Case of the Composer and his Judge (shortlisted for the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger Award 2010 for the best Crime Novel of the Year), Patricia returns to the Bluecoat to discuss the critical themes of her book; religious faith and the French justice system, represented by the central characters of the Judge. Patricia will be asking what is it that inspires people to 'believe' and what defines the strength and nature of their faith? She is also interested in the forms of crime fiction.

Patricia Duncker has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer's Prize (20O7) and the MacMillian Silver Pen Award. She is Professor of Contemporary Literature at the University of Manchester.

Part of this year's Chapter & Verse Literature Festival. For the full schedule click here or download the brochure
