Inspired by Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Pascal Bruckner’s Perpetual Euphoria, physical theatre company Studio Matejka explore the ideology of the quest for happiness in modern relationships.
Performances of Awkward Happiness or Everything I Don't Remember About Meeting You take place at 8pm on Tuesday 8 & Wednesday 9 July at the Bluecoat.

For the first time Merseyside Polonia will be bringing the worldwide aclaimed Polish Theatre Company Studio Matejka to Liverpool as a part of the Liverpool Polish Midsummer Festival. It will be a real feast not only for theatre professionals but also for those who would like to find out more about polish theatre.

Studio Matejka will exceed the  borders between dance, theatre and movement techniques. It will include theatre workshops, film screenings, preformance and symposium where you can find out more and ask questions. Studio Matejka is one of the most innovative physical theatre companies in Poland (Wroclaw), which was created under the auspices of The Grotowski Institute. Jerzy Grotowski was a Polish theatre director and one of the greatest reformers of the 20th century theatre, the Laboratory Theatre and the Poor Theatre inventor, who changed thinking about what theatre actually was and what was its purpose in contemporary culture.
