Artist's Talk: Jo Stockham

  • Sat, 17 Mar 2018
  • 2.00 PM
  • Tickets: Free. Booking advised

Artist Jo Stockham, Head of Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London, first exhibited at Bluecoat in 1990. For In the Peaceful Dome she has revisited her earlier work, with its themes of war and nuclear proliferation, gender and global capital. In this informal event in the gallery she will be discussing her work in the context of other pieces being exhibited alongside hers, including Jacob Epstein’s controversial 1931 sculpture Genesis.  Informed by feminism and peace studies, Jo’s art practice, with its use of often quietly plain or domestic materials such as fabrics and found objects, contrasts with more traditional, predominantly male forms of sculptural expression.
