Goldwork Embroidery - Beginner | Sat 30 May 2020 | 10.30am - 4.30pm

Beginner Level

This elegant inspired border is embroidered with five Goldwork techniques. You will learn these techniques including couching and essing.

You will be able to couch the passing and learn how to plunge it. You will also develop the technique of stitching the pearl purl.

In the second part of the day, we will work on how to do the essing with gold purl. We will also learn how to make Diamond motifs with a silver smooth purl and how to do the loops to create a flower.

You will feel comfortable using the skills you have learned in Goldwork following this class.

This class includes a kit with white duchess satin, smooth and rough gold purls, silver smooth purl, gold passing, very fine pearl purl, needles and bee wax.

The class will allow you to develop at your own pace, with the opportunity for one to one guidance from the tutor due to the limited class numbers.

Tambour Beading embroidery - Beginner | Date TBC

This design will introduce you to the tambour beading embroidery stitch "chaintstitch" along with a variety of stitches that create this beautiful design. 

The design will also allow you to use Swarovski crystals, beads and sequins materials allowing time to learn all the hints and tips in order to achieve this design. 

This technique is used in Fashion and Costume mainly but could be associated with Goldwork to create beautiful embroidery.

Please note that the tambour hook is not included in the kit and will be available to be purchased after the class at £19.50.

Silk Shading Beginner | Sat 7 Dec 2019, Sat 18 Jul 2020| 10.30am - 4.30pm 

Silk shading also known as peinture a l’aiguille (needle painting) is used to create a shading of colour with different shades of thread. 

This class is designed for students to discover the art of silk shading.

You will learn the outline the counters of the design and also the long and short stitch.

Afterwards you will learn how to blend three colours smoothly. The floral design will be embellished with glass beads and Swarovski.

This class includes a kit with white duchess satin, different colours of silk thread, Swarovski crystals, glass beads, needles and detailed instructions.
