Grace Ndiritu leads this discussion on the intersections of 1960s hippie counter culture and radical left activism. The conversation will begin by examining Simon Sadler's text Mandalas or Raised Fists? Hippie Holism, Pantha Totality and Another Modernism which unpacks the California Bay Area activist scene and the overlaps and distinctions between the Black Panthers and the activism that emerged around hippie almanac, The Whole Earth Catalogue. The discussion will be puncuated by short silent meditation breaks led by the artist.

After booking, please email info@thebluecoat.org.uk to request a copy of the text Mandalas or Raised Fists? Hippie Holism, Pantha Totality and Another Modernism by Simon Sadler
