It’s never too early to start reading with your child. What are you waiting for? Our popular Baby Book Club returns with a course of 10 weekly sessions.

This course, run by storyteller and educator Roger Hill, is aimed at parents and carers with babies aged 3-12 months. Learn skills to make reading together a fun learning experience for you and your little one.

"The Baby Book Club has introduced books I’d never heard of and reminded me of ones I loved when I was young. I have found the sessions exploring inventive ways to get more out of books really useful and have easily put them into practice at home, making reading time even more fun" - Annie MacLean (and Betsy), Baby Book Club alumni.

The course is 10 sessions long and costs just £40

Limited places, booking required.

Take a break in our Upstairs dining area or Espresso Cafe

As well as being a centre for the contemporary arts, Bluecoat is the perfect location for fresh, local food and drink, right in the city centre. Our Upstairs Bistro serves hearty, warming comfort food, with a menu inspired by Bistro Classics; a return to the most popular dishes we have served over the years, including Fish & Chips, delicious vegetarian and vegan options, and Scouse:

The Bistro is located on the first floor. The lift to the Bistro can be found in the Vide exhibition display area.

If you are in a bit more of a rush, drop by to our Espresso Cafe located in the ground floor Hub. We offer barista coffee, leaf teas, craft ales, wines and soft drinks. We have a wide selection of freshly made sandwiches, salads, homemade cakes and biscuits.  If the sun is shining take your food and drink outside and relax in our beautiful garden, which offers a peaceful retreat from the city centre crowds.

Family Friendly

Bluecoat is a family-friendly venue with ground floor baby-changing facilities.  Visit our exhibition, play in the garden, or visit our Children's Corner which provides fun, free activities and storybooks to keep you and your little ones happy.
