Liverpool's centre for the contemporary arts
In an era with so much music and noise, it is impossible to digest it all. Things slip through the cracks. Meanings lost, and gems vanish. This concert curated by composer Ben Lunn, features works by some of Britain's best composers whose work play on the metaphors of light, reality, and illusion. Juste Janulyte‘s illusions of textures and mass interplay in this self-described ‘mono-chromatic’ work.
Footsteps Quiet in Shadow is inspired by the poetry of Francesca Kay, with inspiration from the late Peter Reynolds who not only alludes to mythical creatures but also to J.S. Bach. Justina Repeckaite’s austere string quartet uses geometry to make illusions of shape and form but never reveals a meaning.
The finale culminates in the world premiere of 'can’t you see…', a string quartet with electronics by Ben Lunn. This new work ultimately tries to demonstrate what you see is not always what you get.
