Bluecoat is delighted to announce the planting of three new trees in its much loved garden.
The trees include a Handkerchief Tree, a Tulip Tree and a Foxglove Tree, and replace trees that were sadly felled earlier in the year due to ash dieback disease.
The new additions have taken up residence in the garden following an in-depth process of planning which has involved consultation with a number of local experts, including Liverpool gardener and beekeeper Andrea Ku.
The process of moving the three trees into the garden took months of planning and effort from both Bluecoat staff and long-standing garden volunteers Dan Stinson and Isabelle Stirlington. The planting of the trees took a total of seven hours, and was carried out by a team of staff from Firtree Landscapes.
Bluecoat’s Chief Executive Mary Cloake said: “We know our visitors love spending time in our garden, and often describe it as an oasis of calm in the city centre. We were devastated earlier this year to have to fell two large Ash trees which had become dangerous due to being infected with ash dieback disease.
“It has always been in our plans to replace these, and we are thrilled that these plans have now come to fruition, enabling us to maintain the unique biodiversity of our garden in the city centre. We look forward to seeing the new trees bloom for many years to come, and hope our visitors enjoy watching them too.”
