Audrey Preston, Sandon Studios Society Member

The painting below depicts Audrey Preston (married name Julian) a Liverpool ballerina who was a member of the Sandon Studios Society, a group of artists who met at Bluecoat and were instrumental in transforming the building from a school to an arts centre. The painting is set in Bluecoat, which you can tell by our iconic windows in the background, and was painted in the 1940s, potentially in our Sandon Room.
The artist of the painting is Constance Louise Fidler, who exhibited at Bluecoat in an exhibition of Liverpool artists in 1939 - 1940 and is listed with two paintings in this catalogue. Fidler's work also appeared in three of the Recording Merseyside exhibitions in 1945, 1946, 1947, find out more here.
