Early school graffiti

1717

Initials and dates carved into the cornerstones of the building's front were probably done by children at the school when the courtyard was a playground. Concealed from teachers, this 'blind spot' was an ideal place for them to make their mark. Hidden for many years, the inscriptions were cleaned and made more visible during Bluecoat's 2005-08 renovation. They are arguably Liverpool's oldest graffiti.
