The Lives of Artists: Blue Room Gallery Tour and Open Studio

Join artists from Blue Room, our inclusive arts project supporting learning disabled and neurodivergent artists, for an explorative tour sharing their perspective on the works featured in our The Lives of Artists season.

Time

1:00pm - 4:00pm

Date

Sat 16 March 2024

Sat 16 Mar, 1pm - 4pm

Explore The Lives of Artists season with fresh perspective from Blue Room members on tour of the gallery showing works from Babak Ganjei and Joshua Clague.

As part of the tour we will also celebrate the launch of Tess Gilmartin’s billboard commission, Horse Big on the exterior of the building. Gilmartin’s expressive work features brightly coloured animals and plants, drawing upon her experience of spending time outdoors.

After the tour, visitors are invited to join the artists as they share creative responses made in our supported studio at Bluecoat.

Event Schedule

1pm: Meet at the Tickets & Information desk to begin a tour of the gallery.

Blue Room artists will lead an exploration of exhibitions from The Lives of Artists season. The tour will conclude with a first look at Tess Gilmartin’s Horse Big, a billboard commission on the exterior of our building on Blundell Lane.

Please note that part of the tour is outdoors, so please dress according to weather conditions.

2pm-4pm: Blue Room artists invite you to our pop-up gallery and studio space. Sharing work created in our supported studio and in response to exhibitions at the Bluecoat, this is a rare chance to see behind the scenes of our inclusive arts project and meet some of the artists and staff team.

There will also be the opportunity to support the project and purchase limited edition prints created in the Bluecoat Print Studio by Blue Room artists.

This event will take place in wheelchair accessible spaces. Accessible toilets are available at the Bluecoat.
