Peter Mearns

Peter Mearns was appointed Chair in November 2016.

He was previously an Executive Director at the Northwest Development Agency and held positions as Deputy Chair of Arts Council England (Northwest), Member of Tate Liverpool Council, Trustee of FACT and the Liverpool Biennial, Member of the Nations & Group for London 2012 and Chair of the 2012 Northwest Torch Relay Steering Group. Peter was instrumental in helping win the European Capital of Culture bid for Liverpool in 2008, the same year that Bluecoat re-opened after a £14 million re-development. Now working as a Marketing & Communications Advisor and practising Artist & Photographer, Peter is also Chair of Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, Vice Chair of Storyhouse (Chester), Trustee of Open Eye and Committee Member of Tate Liverpool. He brings with him extensive experience in the arts and sports sectors.
