This presentation by Bryan Biggs and Helen Tookey focussed on rarely seen family photographs from his childhood home in Caldy and holidays on the Isle of Man and elsewhere. They reflect Lowry’s early passion for sport, especially golf and swimming, and give an insight into his relationship with his elder brothers and parents, suggesting life was more than one of ‘perpetual gloom’. The talk also revealed new information about Lowry’s birthplace in New Brighton, illustrated with deeds to the house.
