Long Night at the BluecoatThe return of the hugely popular late-night event at the Bluecoat. The gallery doors stay open until 11pm and this year sees the launch of DaDaFest with installations in our public spaces, Bed-In, music and printmaking.


Liverpool Biennial 2010: Touched  
Galleries at the Bluecoat

Touched provokes questions such as how can an artist’s work be inspired through an understanding of what touches people? Daniel Bozhkov, Nicholas Hlobo, Carol Rama and Ranjani Shettar respond to the theme by tracing memory and matter, identity and humour. Enjoy late night access! Free Family Friendly

Bed-In at the Bluecoat

Bed-In at the Bluecoat takes place in celebration of John Lennon’s commitment to peace and sees different performances in a bed sited publically in the Bluecoat over 62 days. Find the Bed-In somewhere in the Bluecoat, and then visit the bistro; enjoy a drink and perhaps a spot of food Upstairs at the Bluecoat.

Long Night Sound Relay

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Fact, the Bluecoat and Tate Liverpool

Join the magnetic relay of sound as musicians including Ensemble 10/10 and the a.P.A.t.T Orchestra as they take you on a cumulative journey of musical happenings from Hope Street to the Albert Dock. Centred on composer Jennifer Watson's Reflections and inspired by the Touched programme of the Liverpool Biennial, musicians test the limits of their own practice to create a series of surprising, experimental and reflexive happenings gathering additional musical material as it travels (supported by PRS for Music Foundation's New Music Plus...). Objects of Curiosity and Desire
DaDaFest International 2010
The Hub, the Garden and Sandon Rooms and the garden

The opening night of DaDaFest International 2010, with a preview of the exhibition Objects of Curiosity and Desire. Exploring the human body, its quirks, questions and endless fascinations, Objects of Curiosity and Desire presents work in a range of media. The Long Night will feature a film projection in the garden, performances, Fitting Multimedia’s Sputnik in the Courtyard and the chance to have your portrait taken by the Beyond Sight artists. Also featuring work by Yinka Shonibare. Just turn up! Free Family Friendly

Blue Room and the Biennial

Blue Room members discuss the work they have done relating to this year’s Biennial Touched theme. The Blue Room is the Bluecoat’s arts service for adults with learning disabilities, run in partnership with Liverpool City Council. Find out what their response has been and talk with them about their achievements. Free Family Friendly
 
Printmaking at the Bluecoat
Printmaking studio

Our intaglio and screen print studios will open to the public offering a perfect opportunity to see demonstrations by local printmakers and have a go yourself. Prints created in the studios will be displayed on the corridor walls. Free

DJ set at the Bluecoat
The Hub
8.00–11.00pm
‘Resident mix-master’ and Artistic Director Bryan Biggs lays down some tunes and keeps the celebration going in the Hub. So grab yourself a coffee, a beer or a freshly squeezed orange juice and enjoy evening city living at its best. Free

Brendan Lyons
Garden
6.00-11.00pm
In an unexpected encounter with art in an unusual location, Liverpool-based artist Brendan Lyons presents site-specific paintings in the flagstone passage leading from the Bluecoat garden. Just turn up! Free Family Friendly
