Studio Me and Blue Room as part of A Gentle Man (Part II) (1975–2029)

As part of Becky Beasley's exhibition at the Bluecoat, we are delighted to present a selection of works by three Studio Me artists: Tony Carroll, Tess Gilmartin and Tom Rooney.

Time

11:00am - 5:00pm

Date

Sat 26 September 2026 - Sun 03 January 2027

Becky Beasley met with members of Blue Room, the Bluecoat’s inclusive arts project, for several interactive sessions. Blue Room artists shared their practice and works with Beasley, along with their ideas around how to make exhibitions more inclusive. Part of this process involved learning about some of the themes within A Gentle Man (Part II) (1975–2029).

During these sessions, various exciting connections and overlaps emerged between the work of artists from Studio Me; Blue Room’s supported studio and the themes within A Gentle Man (Part II) (1975–2029). Because of this, Beasley chose to feature some of their work in the exhibition. The selected works share a kinship with Beasley’s interest in perceptions of space, sensory experiences, and how art can offer a glimpse into our inner lives.

Blonde, Pink and Wellness Green: A Blue Room Sensory Tour

Through this dialogue, a sensory tour has been collaboratively developed that will offer new perspectives on the work and the themes within the exhibition.
