Childe of Hale: a film by Richard Whitby

  • Wed, 24 Sep 2014
  • 7.00 PM - 9.00 PM
  • Tickets: Free, booking recommended

Made with volunteers from the Merseyside village of Hale, Whitby’s film tells the story of John Middleton, the famous 9 ft 3 giant known as 'The Childe of Hale', born there in 1578. Using improvised acting and DIY methods, the film explores the flexibility of this under-documented historical narrative and encompasses several versions of Middleton's biography, as interpreted by people from the village. Further information: mail@richardwhitby.net or childeofhale.wordpress.com. Funded by Arts Council England.
