Bluecoat Membership - Join the Society

We have long been asked by our visitors how they can support Bluecoat or get closer to our exhibitions and events.

2017 was a landmark year for Bluecoat as we celebrated a BIG Birthday, our 300th in fact! So to create a legacy from our 300th anniversary year, last week we launched a brand new Membership Scheme which coincides with National Charity Week.

Over the last 12 months we have undertaken significant research including audience surveys, so that we can continue to provide a Bluecoat for everyone and ensure we reach those who are least likely to engage with arts and culture.

Our research showed that audiences wanted to help keep entry free, support the development of new creative works and continue to aid in the provision of creative opportunities. Audiences also specified that they wished to enjoy benefits such as offers, special events and to help Bluecoat continue to reach out to the community.

The Bluecoat Membership Scheme will allow you to do just that.

Grounded in our history and heritage, the Bluecoat Membership Scheme will offer a range of special benefits to Members and Patrons.

Bluecoat began its life as a centre for the arts in 1925 when The Sandon Studios Society, led by Fanny Calder, launched a campaign to use the building for the development of arts. After a generous anonymous donation from a local solicitor, Bluecoat Society of Arts was officially established in 1927, with the aim to achieve similar goals to those highlighted in our recent research.

Just as Bluecoat relied on the generosity of others nearly one hundred years ago, as a registered charity, we are still reliant on this support to continue as a heritage destination and Liverpool’s centre for the contemporary arts. Becoming a Bluecoat Member or Patron will ensure that we continue to bring exceptional art to Liverpool, support new and emerging artists and continue our forward-thinking participation programme.

On becoming a part of this modern day society, as a Bluecoat Member you will receive priority booking status for certain events and access to behind-the-scenes Member only experiences. Members will also be given year-round discount to our Espresso Cafe, regular updates detailing key news and exclusive offers, as well as a special gift from our back catalogue.

For those who want to get even closer to Bluecoat, you could also become a Patron. Being a Patron means you will receive all the benefits of the Membership scheme, in addition to a number of other rewards such as priority access to artworks for sale. Your generosity will be acknowledged on our website, in our Annual Report and even in the Bluecoat building itself.

2018 sees a decade since Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008 and we are excited to be at the forefront of bringing contemporary art to the heart of Liverpool as part of the 2018 Biennial.

Our Membership Scheme is now available to join either at our front desk on your next visit or online through our website. To find out more about the Bluecoat Membership Scheme and sign-up, click here to visit our Members page.
