Top things to do for families at Bluecoat this summer

Abacus, an exhibition especially for children

Fri 21 Jul – Sun 1 Oct

This summer children are taking over Bluecoat! The main show, Abacus, is a free interactive art exhibition created especially for children. Abacus encourages visitors of all ages to break the traditional rules of an art gallery and allows your family to truly interact with art. Artists have designed art works to inspire visitors to watch, draw, read and make. These include a mini art cinema and a gallery of giant chalkboards where your family can create their own masterpieces by drawing straight onto the gallery walls

A Weekly Carousel of Activities

Until Sat 2 Sep

Children can also climb on board a weekly programme of activities related to our summer exhibition. There’ll be Toddlertastic dance and mark-making workshops every Tuesday and Storytime Puppet shows on Wednesdays. You can try something different every Thursday with our Pick ‘n’ Mix sessions, which feature everything from stand-up comedy to drawing with robots.
