Something borrowed, something blue.

The Bluecoat has been awarded a wedding licence by Liverpool City Council.

We have been bringing people together through art and participation for over a 100 years. And with our new status as a wedding venue, the Bluecoat will provide a space for new happy couples to celebrate their own unions in a creative setting.

Since the building reopened in 2008 after a programme of conservation, restoration and new build, the Bluecoat has established itself as Liverpool’s creative arts hub for the 21st Century.

Chief Executive at the Bluecoat Mary Cloake said: “We are delighted to have been granted a wedding licence.  With state-of-the art facilities and flexible spaces, the Bluecoat is the perfect venue for that special day and we hope to see many new couples tie the knot here.”

The Bluecoat offers a range of rooms, mixing historic features with a modern, creative edge.  There is an attractive garden and courtyard to give a wedding something extra.

Being an innovative centre for contemporary visual and performance art, the Bluecoat hasn’t borrowed much from traditional wedding venues, apart from excellent service, attention to detail and quality. The Bluecoat presents a genuinely unique setting and service for weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, and/or receptions.

To make those big days special, the Bluecoat is offering a variety of packages to suit all budgets.  They can also work with you to create something bespoke: a drinks reception in the courtyard garden; a wedding breakfast or evening reception in our bright and airy restaurant, Upstairs at the Bluecoat; dancing ‘til late in our high-tech performance space.

The Bluecoat’s creative retail partners sell an amazing array of hand-crafted items, like engraved rings, paper-flower decorations and crocheted wedding bunting.

And an event manager is on hand to make sure that everyone enjoys a relaxed day of fun and laughter in Liverpool’s most creative setting.

Those looking for inspiration for their big day will find many ideas at the Rosadorae Wedding Fayre at the Bluecoat on Sunday 15 April, 11am – 4pm. The event is free and showcases a fantastic selection of local businesses offering everything from vivid venue dressing to wedding favours, bartending services and gowns.

For an informal look around, and to get a flavour of how we can make that big day really special, please contact the Bluecoat at weddings@thebluecoat.org.uk or telephone 0151 702 5324.
